[0001] The present invention relates to a filter device which has a ring filter element disposed within a filter housing in a vertical mode, which ring filter element has an upper and lower end disc. The invention further relates to a ring filter ring for such a filter device.
[0002] A generic filter device is sufficiently known and should be found in most all modern motor vehicles, used, for example, as an oil or fuel filter.
[0003] In order to be able to guarantee a trouble-free filter effect, it is often important for manufacturers of such filter devices that only filter elements which have been authorized or produced by them are used. With the use of external branded or imitation filter elements, viz. not only can the filter performance be impaired, but at the same time damage can also be caused. On the other hand, it is desirable to be able to produce and offer filter elements for such filter devices at as favorable a cost as possible.
[0004] The present invention is therefore concerned with the problem of providing for a filter device of the generic type an improved or at least alternative modality, which specifically allows exclusively the use of authorized filter elements.
[0005] This problem is solved according to the invention by the subjects of the independent claims. Advantageous modalities are the subject of dependent claims.
[0006] The present invention is based on the general idea of providing a ring filter element, known per se, which is arranged in a vertical mode within a filter housing of a filter device, with an impurities container on the side base, on which a protruding, nozzle-shaped pin is constructed, whereby the ring filter element couples within a channel provided on a filter housing container or on a functional element, provided that the filter element of ring is correctly mounted. The impurities container is here arranged on the lower end disc of the ring filter element, wherein the socket-shaped pin is constructed in one piece with the impurities container, and an operation of the filter device is then allowed exclusively provided that the pin of the impurities container engages within the channel on the side of the filter housing container or respectively on the functional element side. The impurity container and herewith also the socket-shaped pin are here preferably constructed in one piece or in one piece with a lower end disc of the ring filter element, specifically the impurity container is welded over the disc of the lower end of the ring filter element, for example, by means of friction welding, ultrasonic welding or laser welding. A water separator is further provided inside the impurities container, so that the impurities container itself can be used both as a impurities collection chamber and also as a water collection chamber, and has on the side basis at least one outlet for the collected impurities or respectively for the collected water. With the filter device according to the invention it is therefore possible that it can only be used as long as the ring filter elements which are mounted on it are used with the pin on the side of the impurities container; the use of other ring filter elements by which under certain circumstances the filter performance of the filter device could be impaired, can therefore be reliably prevented.
[0007] In a further advantageous development of the solution according to the invention, the water separator which is arranged inside the impurities container is constructed as a collector and at the same time is welded over the lower end disc of the filter element of ring. Such a collector is capable of collecting and diverting water particles and therefore, for example, filtering the water components present in the fuel, so that they cannot reach the combustion engine and cause corrosion damage there. In this case, the filter device can be constructed, for example, as an oil or fuel filter, whereby quite generally a construction such as an air filter is also conceivable. The water separator is here connected to the lower end disc of the ring filter element, specifically it is welded onto, and can hereby be exactly positioned and fixed before assembly or respectively before closing the impurities container, which distinctly simplifies the manufacturing process of the filter device according to the invention.
[0008] In a further advantageous embodiment of the solution according to the invention, a guide is provided on the filter housing container or on a functional element disposed therein, along whose guide the impurities container pin is guided in the assembly of the ring filter element in the channel. Such a guide can be constructed, for example, in a tilting mode, which allows an arbitrary insertion of the filter ring element, so that the latter slides by means of the pin along the guide into the channel and thereby a correct assembly can always be guaranteed. Such a guide can be realized on the one hand at a favorable cost, for example by a suitable injection mold, and on the other hand it guarantees a distinctly simplified handling of the filter device according to the invention, because the ring filter element can be inserted into the filter housing vessel at a position of arbitrary angle of rotation and can be transferred by a simple twist to its proper and correct position. An incorrect mounting of the ring filter element can hereby be reliably eliminated.

[00013] According to Figure 1, a ring filter element 1 according to the invention has an upper end disc 2 and a lower end disc 3. Between the two end discs 2 and 3 a filter material 4 it is arranged, for example, in the mode of a pleated star. The ring filter element 1 is here arranged in a manner similar to the illustration in Figure 1 in a vertical mode within a filter housing, not shown, of a filter device, for example an oil or fuel filter. According to the invention, on the lower end disc 3 a container of impurities 5 is now provided, which has a water separator 6 disposed therein and only outlined by a dashed line. A nozzle-shaped pin 7 is provided projecting downwardly over the impurities container 5, which pin is constructed in a manner complementary to a channel 9 constructed on the filter housing container, which is not shown, or on an element functional 8 (as per Figure 2) which is capable of being inserted into this filter housing container which is not shown. An operation of the complete element device is thus possible here exclusively as long as the pin 7 couples within the channel 9, which can be specifically constructed as an idle channel.
[00014] Generally, the water separator 6 can be constructed as a so-called collector and can be welded to the lower end disk 3 of the ring filter element 1. Welding can take place, for example, by means of ultrasonic welding, welding by friction or laser welding and guarantees a reliable positioning and fixing of the water separator 6 on the lower end disc 3 of the ring filter element, so that in a subsequent work step the impurities container 5 can be connected with end disc 3, specifically welded. Of course, a welding of the water separator 6 to the lower end disk 3 after welding the impurities container 5 to the lower end disk 3 is also conceivable, in which case the water separator 6 must subsequently be introduced through a opening 10 of the impurities container 5 on the base side.
[00015] Observing Figures 1 and 3 to 5, it can be seen that on the pin 7, that is, specifically on its pin head, at least one sealing element 11 is arranged which sealingly closes the channel 9 with the pin 7 engaging in it. The at least one sealing element 11 can be constructed here, for example, as a conventional O-ring seal. Looking at Figure 5, it can be seen that the pin 7 has an axle 12 which is cruciform in cross section, and that the pin has the aforementioned pin head adjacent thereto, which the cross-sectional profile of the axle 12 provides to pin 7 a high degree of rigidity. For the correct introduction of the pin 7 into the channel 9, a guide 13 can be provided on the filter impurities container or on the functional element 8, with whose guide in the best case the pin 7 slides along with low friction into the channel 9. Guide 13 can be constructed here, for example, in a tilt mode.
[00016] The invention not only here refers to a complete filter device, consisting of a filter housing and a filter housing container and functional element 8 disposed therein and the ring filter element 1, but also to the element of ring filter 1 as a separate component, specifically for the spare parts market. By constructing the ring filter element 1 in one piece together with the impurity container 5 and specifically by constructing the pin 7 and the impurity container 5 in one piece, a complete piece can therefore be produced, specifically also for the spare parts market, which on the one hand has a favorable price and which on the other hand ensures that no inappropriate or unauthorized brands are used, which may weaken filter performance and thereby, under certain circumstances, may cause damage. Of course, both the pin element 7 and the impurity container 5 can here be constructed from a favorable price plastic, specifically as an injection molded part of plastic. In the illustrations, channel 9 is constructed as an idle channel.

Claims (8)

1. Filter device having a ring filter element (1) disposed within a filter housing in a vertical mode, which ring filter element has an upper end disc (2) and a lower end disc ( 3), characterized in that - a filter material is arranged between the upper (2) and lower (3) end discs - a container of impurities (5) having a water separator (6) disposed therein is provided over the lower end disc (3), - the impurities container (5) has a protruding nozzle-shaped pin (7) and an opening (10) on the base side of the impurities container (5), - a functional element (8) having a channel (9) is configured to receive the pin, and- a portion of the functional element is configured to penetrate the opening (10) of the impurities container (5), so that the ring filter element ( 1) is sealed in the opening (10) and the functional element portion (8) further having at least one discharge opening. and water, in which operation of the filter device is only possible when the pin (7) engages within the channel (9).

Filter device according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that on the filter housing container or on the functional element (8), a guide (13) is provided, which guides the pin (7) to the channel (9).

A filter device according to any one of claims 5 to 6, characterized in that the pin (7) has an axis (12) which is cruciform in cross section, and has a pin head adjacent thereto, wherein the at least one sealing element (11) is arranged in the pinhead region.

Ring filter element (1) for a filter device as defined in claim 1, characterized in that the opening (10) on the base side of the impurities container (5) is configured to receive a portion of the functional element (8 ), so that the ring filter element (1) is sealed in the opening (10) and the pin (7) is configured to engage the channel (9) provided in the functional element such that the filter device is operational.
